Evening Wrap-Up

I don't have any pictures to post because I didn't collect memory cards from leaders tonight but we are definitely off and running.  Lights are off and kids are asleep all over Floodbrook School and dreams of work projects and service are certainly filling their minds.

I had the opportunity to share some of my story with the students tonight as the main speaker for the first night of our program.  I talked about how my priority list got radically turned upside down when I first started getting to know Mandy.  On my priority list I was at the top and God was nowhere to be found.  On Mandy's list God was #1 and she was nowhere to be found.  I shared from Mark 9 specifically verse 35 where Jesus pulls the disciples together after they were having a discussion on the road about who was the greatest.  Our whole week is centered on times when Jesus spoke like he did in verse 35 when He says "Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all." Living that verse out is a radical representation of turning our life upside down just as my life was turned upside down when I realized that God should be at the top of my list instead of me.  I also shared the story of Katie Davis who went to Uganda as a high school senior and ended up moving their full time a year later, buying a house, and adopting four Ugandan girls.  God can choose to radically turn our lives upside down at any moment but we have to be ready and willing for those moments or we'll miss them entirely.

We have 8 teams headed out in the morning to 8 different sites.  Three of the sites tomorrow are brand new work projects for us and I think will be a great fit.  I'll update more tomorrow with team names, students, and project details!

Thanks for reading, sending notes, and comments - we appreciate you being along for the ride!
